To Check Out a File from a Document
- Ensure that the appropriate document appears in the Content pane.

Click the Action Bar
Check Out icon or right-click the file and
select
Check Out.
The Checkout dialog opens.
- Place a check next to each file that should be checked out.
- Change the Checkout Location path if the information should be sent to a network directory other than the default directory.
- Select the appropriate options as required.

OK.
AssetWise warns you that the document is checked out by placing lock icons over the document and file icons. The checked out document will also have a "Checked Out" status (displaying who has the document checked out) and a Document Status of "Changing".
- Locate and edit the files using the native authoring applications from either the default location or the path name specified in Step 4 being sure to save all changes prior to exiting.

When all changes have been made, click the
Check In icon, or right-click the file and
then select
Check In.
The Check In dialog opens. For example,

Select files to be checked in being sure to delete old and local
file copies if applicable and click
OK.
The files selected will now be checked in. The lock graphic will be removed from document wherever it appears (in Explore, Favorites, and so on).
